A Little of Our History:
Established by Malcolm & Nannette Sprenger in 1964,
Sprenger’s Rural Traders, formerly known as Sprenger’s Produce has grown with the family into a much loved asset to the local community.
Mal started his business years young, at Haigslea State School selling bunya nuts to his classmates for a threepence. He continued his passion for business after school years when he met his wife Nan.
Mal & Nan started selling fruit and vegetables off of the back of a trailer on the Warrego Highway in Haigslea. Business went well and this led them into building a fruit shop and service station on their farm, named; Sprenger's Produce. Many locals would recall the famous "Sprenger's Pineapple Crush" they would sell fresh in store.
Through years of farming fruit and veg, and running a dairy farm, Mal & Nan's passion for animals led them into selling hay and stockfeed.
In the early 90's, they would then lease out the fruit shop and service station to focus on running Sprenger's Produce selling stockfeed and hay. In 2014 the business celebrated 50 years and is now run by Mal & Nan’s youngest son, Ashley & his wife Pauline.
Ashley & Pauline, along with their three children, Kristian, Matthew & Kaitlynn, continue the family business’s dedication to providing the highest quality products and old-fashioned customer service.
In May 2017, Ashley and Pauline opened the level one - Pet & Rural, of the new two-level superstore, now Sprenger's Rural Traders, which had been in planning since 2008. Soon followed by the level two - Country Clothing Boutique in October 2017.
